Description:
This June, Works/San José will present its third annual New California
Masters art exhibition, featuring installation, painting, photography,
sculpture, and video art by master’s program graduates state-wide.
Berin Golonu of Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Brooke Jones of the San
Jose Public Art program, and Megan Hochstetler, recipient of the Emerging
Curator Award and curator of the 2005 New California Masters exhibition,
made up the jury. From the 100+ entries representing University of California
and California State schools as well as the California College of Arts
and Crafts, Stanford University, San Francisco Art Institute, and many
others; the jury selected only 20 artists. With the breadth and caliber
of their work, Works/San José invites the public to join in welcoming
the new masters at the start of their careers in California and beyond.
