We are up and running at our new space, 451 south first street in san josé, but there is still work to be done! to get the doors open and welcome back our members and friends, works spent about $30, 000 of its operational budget to get the building ready. before we can continue to modify the space to meet the needs of works unique programming, we need to repay the operational account and raise an additional $70,000 to complete the project. works cannot continue the renovations of the space without your support. while a donation in any amount is gratefully appreciated, a gift of $100 or more from each of our supporters will bring us to our goal.
This year, the board of directors has designated the first $100,000 raised through arts council silicon valley’s music and arts campaign to be utilized for the completion of our renovations. the funds raised will be used to build out a studio space for our artist in residence program; build walls to define the p2installation space, classroom, and offices for the staff; façade improvements; renovate the existing lavatory; and other changes to make the most of this new space.
In conjunction with our annual music & arts appeal, works is excited to announce this years’ patron print artists will be joe miller and ema harris-sintamarian. joe is celebrating his twentieth year as works resident designer and ema became an active “worksie” after participating in our artist in residence program and later went on to exhibit in our p2 installation space. in keeping with this year’s theme, joe and ema will complete a mural on the market street façade. this is works first commission of a piece of public art and you can be a supporter with your generous gift of $400. all patron level supporters will be identified on the mural wall and receive a souvenir image signed by the artists.
